Following on from an incredible experience at IMATS Sydney 2013, I’ve been lucky enough to have my drag makeup featured in the current issue of Makeup Artist Magazine, Issue No. 105,alongside the work of fellow makeup artists Dale Dorning, Martin Bray, Emma Smith, Rosalina Da Silva & Julie Tattam.
This year’s IMATS Sydney had a record-high attendance—more than 4,000 professional and aspiring make-up artists!
On Sat 21/9/13 I finally got a chance to attend the InternationalMakeup Artist Trade Show (IMATS) at the Sydney Convention Centre. HUB Makeup, Gorgeous Cosmetics & the Academy of Makeup invited me to be a part of their booth at the expo.
I performed a live drag makeup & lace-front wig demonstration. The demo incorporated brow blocking & highlighting & contouring techniques to feminise a male face. The demo was a hit with the attendees, the media & Dana Nye!
Reconnecting with Dana Nye, President of Ben Nye. It had been ten years since I first met him when he visited Three Arts Makeup College & did a makeup demo for our class. He was very generous in giving me a great selection of his latest HD Media Pro range.
Meeting Rae Morris. She was kind enough to give one of her awesome #27 Radiance foundation brushes which create an amazing airbrush finish!
Lastly, seeing my graduate from the Academy of Makeup, Raelene Mara & her company Model Rock Lashes absolutely rocking the expo! When I first met Raelene her business was still in the conception stage & now it’s booming! Model Rock Lashes is the go to brand for many pro makeup artists & avid lash wearers! Overall IMATS was a very positive & inspiring experience. It was great to network with industry leaders & like minded makeup junkies! Definitely looking forward to the 2014 event!
